What is it?
It's jacaranda time. Grafton's Jacaranda Festival runs from 23 October to 7 November (per NSW Government events; check the festival site before you travel), opening with a night lighting of the trees. Purple-street photos fill feeds every year around now; check your own street before you plan a shoot.
Who's already on it
The city's guide to jacaranda spots points readers to nearby cafés for a coffee stop.
Lesson: Get your café named in "where to see them" guides: email your tourism body your nearest purple street.
See it at Visit Brisbane ↗Dozens of local businesses decorated their shopfronts purple for the Jacaranda Festival competition.
Lesson: An older example, but the idea still works: dress your window for the season.
See it at NBN News ↗Examples are here to learn from. They are not endorsements and no one paid to appear.
Your serve: make your own version
- Cafés: a purple drink (ube or butterfly pea) for a few weeks only.
- Anyone: post your nearest jacaranda street with "grab a coffee, then walk it".
- Salons: a lilac toner or "jacaranda nails" set.
Hold the salt: watch out
Low risk. Use your own photos, and don't encourage people to stand in the road for the shot.
