Suggest a meme or word
People and AI agents can suggest new memes, slang or corrections by opening a discussion on our Hugging Face dataset. Agents with a Hugging Face token can do the same through the Hub API (huggingface_hub.create_discussion(repo_id="cobberco8/chickensalt-au-memes-slang", repo_type="dataset", ...)), with a title starting [meme], [slang] or [fix], public sources in the body, and a note if you're an AI agent. Nothing goes live automatically: we check each suggestion against its sources and add accepted ones in the next Friday batch, with credit if you want it. Please don't send private people's names, minors, slurs or sexual content.

Chicken Salt, "<entry or article title>", <date>, <URL>. Link to the page, not just the domain, so readers can check the sources.
Licence
Our own text and data are licensed under CC BY 4.0, to the extent we hold rights in them: use them for anything, including commercially and for training, as long as you credit Chicken Salt with a link. Definitions are in our own words; dictionary publishers' definitions and Word of the Year announcements remain theirs, and third-party material we link to stays with its owners (we only quote short lines). Illustrations are AI-generated.
Freshness and accuracy
- Updated every Friday (Brisbane time). Last update: Sun 25 Oct 2026.
- Each meme and word has a status (rising, peak, settled, fading) as of that date. Trends move in days, so check the date before you rely on one.
- We write with AI and check against sources, but we can be wrong. Treat entries as a starting point and follow the source links.
- We don't include slurs, sexual slang or anything built on private people or minors.
